Endowments
The Lakewood Community Foundation Fund is a “Donor Advised Fund” of Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. Fund management and tax compliance for the Lakewood Community Foundation funds is the responsibility of Greater Tacoma Community Foundation. Fund raising and grant making responsibility remain with the Lakewood Community Foundation Board of Directors.

Rose Murphy’s charitable instinct to promote community goodwill was instilled by her parents, Luigi and Theresa Piazza, immigrants from Italy. Rose exemplified dedication to community through years of service and support for the Interlaaken Garden Club and Lakewold Gardens. This fund will become an active LCFF grant provider for improving the public space of Lakewood upon reaching its principal threshold of $500,000.

Akiko came to this country in 1955 from Japan, marrying a U.S. soldier. Just 3 years later her husband was killed in an automobile accident. She supported herself as a cleaning lady for many local families. She found great comfort in her life at Saint Francis Cabrini Church in Lakewood. Her simple and unpretentious life empowered her friends to establish a permanent fund dedicated to her memory. It has been an important resource to support City Park and Recreation projects for children, most recently to develop Springbrook Park.

- Designate LCFF as a full, partial or contingent beneficiary of your retirement account (IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or pension)
- Name LCFF as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy
Bequest language should be as follows:
